Fund for Gender Equality 2015 Call for Proposals

This year the Fund for Gender Equality will welcome online proposal submissions from women-led Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) that are  innovative, high-impact, and multi-stakeholder programmes that help jumpstart progress on the Post-2015 Development Agenda with a focus on women’s economic and political empowerment. As you know, the Fund for Gender Equality has been supporting women-led CSOs in their efforts to frontload the implementation of gender equality commitments on the ground for the past 5 years, awarding over US$ 56 million to 96 programmes in 72 countries. With this new grant-making round, the Fund wishes to renew efforts at this critical moment when UN Member States move closer to adopting a new framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in September 2015.

While we are already sharing the Call for Proposals document (see English version attached – other languages available here), the online application system will be open for submissions on 9 March 2015 in commemoration of International Women's Day, and will close on 5 April 2015. Interested national and regional women-led organizations will be able to access information and apply in five languages (English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian), in line with our commitment to increase accessibility of the Call.

Let me also take this opportunity to inform you about two upcoming events that the Fund will be organizing in New York City in the coming weeks in the context of the 59th session of the Commission for the Status of Women (CSW), namely:

1.       Panel on “Civil Society at the Forefront of the Post-2015 Agenda”, where UN Women Executive Director, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will launch the Call for Proposals and discuss the critical role women-led CSOs play in the implementation of women's economic and political empowerment commitments, and in furthering the Sustainable Development Goals once finalized.

2.       Questions & Answers Session for Civil Society Organizations on FGE 3rd Grant Call for Proposals
